Thank you for your interest in joining CASC. Please fill out the form as completely as possible so we learn more about your organization, then mail it to cascexec@casc.org. The CASC Director of Membership, Elections and Outreach will be in touch to discuss details and benefits of membership
- CASC Vision
CASC envisions a robust, sustainable ecosystem supporting academic research computing and data services, enabled by a vibrant, diverse community of professionals.
- CASC Mission
- Advocate for the importance of and need for public and private investment in research computing and data services to support academic research.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to federal agencies on the direction of relevant funding programs.
- Actively engage in discussions of policies related to research computing and data services.
- Foster advancement of a robust and diverse community of current and emerging leaders in this field.
- Provide a forum for the community to share strategic ideas and best practices.
- Membership Prerequisites
To be or become a Member, the organization must be US-based and:
- 3.1.1 Subscribe to the purposes stated in Article II, including fully supporting and acting in accordance with the CASC Vision and Mission (see above);
- 3.1.2 Have higher education and/or open academic research as a primary mission, or have a formal affiliation with one or more organizations that do;
- 3.1.2.1 In the case of qualification through a second organization, the candidate organization must have the authorization of its parent organization or institution to join;
- 3.1.3 Have an independent, active program providing direct access to or support of advanced scientific computation and/or data analysis for open academic research;
- 3.1.4 Demonstrate its commitment to fulfill criteria stated in Section 3.1 through its actions; and
- 3.1.5 Be a nonprofit organization; or if not a nonprofit, be approved by the EC, in its reasonable discretion, as an exception prior to submitting to the Membership for discussion and vote. The EC shall adopt guidelines for granting such exceptions to ensure that only for-profits with missions consistent with the mission of CASC are put forth for Membership.
- Application Process
According to CASC Policies and Procedures, the CASC Secretary will share the member application with the Executive Committee to determine if the new member application is complete and meets the Member description criteria. If the application is deemed complete, then the application process includes a 14-day discussion period and then a vote by the CASC membership. Once a quorum is reached, the member will be notified of the vote and provided next steps by the CASC Secretary. If you have any questions, please contact cascsecretary@casc.org.
While Membership is Pending
An individual from a prospective CASC Member Organization may be invited by the EC to attend one (and only one) CASC meeting without charge to learn more about CASC. This may also happen prior to submitting a New Membership Application.
