On September 24, CASC joined researchers and advocates from across the country on Capitol Hill for the Coalition for National Science Funding’s 2026 Advocacy Day and Science Showcase. CASC was one of 16 research teams selected to present an interactive demonstration to congressional staff. Representing CASC and its membership, George Takahashi, principal visualization scientist, and Danny Milisavljevic, NSF CAREER professor of physics and astronomy, from Purdue University demonstrated NSF-funded work on severe weather simulation and visualization. They highlighted how research computing, data services, and workforce development turn federal research investment into tools that serve communities. We thank George and Danny for their work on CASC’s behalf, and the Purdue XR team for their support. The release from CNSF describes the event and the case for robust, sustained NSF funding as Congress considers the FY 2027 budget: https://www.cnsf.us/activities-events.
