CASC Community Development Workgroup
The CASC Community Development Workgroup focuses on strengthening access to research computing and data (RCD) resources across the CASC community, with particular attention to non-R1 institutions and organizations with developing programs. By identifying shared challenges and elevating effective strategies already in use among members across the RCD community, the workgroup supports broader participation in advanced computing and research infrastructure. A central priority is equipping institutions with practical tools to demonstrate the institutional value and return on investment of community-focused RCD initiatives.
Purpose and Scope

This workgroup is dedicated to improving access to RCD infrastructure, services, and expertise for institutions with limited resources or emerging capabilities. Through shared strategies, peer learning, and actionable recommendations, the group supports institutions seeking to expand or strengthen their role in the broader research computing ecosystem.

CASC Mentoring Circle (New Initiative)
The Community Development Workgroup identified a need for stronger peer connection and support among colleagues moving into new or evolving leadership roles—particularly those who may not always be at the center of leadership discussions.
In response, CASC is launching an informal mentoring circle designed to:
Share experiences and practical insights
Build confidence and leadership perspective
Strengthen professional connections across the community
This is an evolving, participant-shaped space guided by the interests and experiences of those who join.
